Here are the facts. Also known as anthophyllite-gedrite and nuumite, the Sorcerer's Stone was first described in 1810, though not widely available until the 1980s. Ours is mined in Greenland in the Nuuk region, hence the alternate name "Nuumite".

Found in Precambriam rock formations that are over 3 Billion years old, nuumite has a double silicate structure, thanks to thin layers of its two ingredient minerals anthophyllite and gedrite being laid on top of each other like pages of a book or laminated layers of puff pastry. This “lamellar” structure creates the iridescence and flashes of color you can see in the stone, especially in direct sunlight.
