Megalodon "Baby Shark" Tooth Fossil
This Megalodon "Baby Shark" Tooth Fossil was recovered in the Atlantic off South Carolina by scuba divers. Megalodon Shark teeth this size are considered baby teeth. While adult Otodus megalodon sharks could reach up to around sixty-five feet with rows of teeth exceeding 7 inches long, baby sharks entered the world already measuring over six feet long, with but perfectly pointy baby shark teeth like this 1.66 inch tooth fossil.
Its jet-black color is a direct result of the permineralization process where the discarded baby shark tooth lay in sediment absorbing iron and phosphate, turning this fossil deep black.
