Iolite stones vary in color from intense blue and violet to washed blue and lilac grey and some (like this one) stones contain all of these! Each iolite gem is unique. Iolite will also photograph differently depending on the light. It appears to be purple/blue violet when looking at it straight on, but look at he back through bright light and it's lavender!
