925 Sterling Silver Art Nouveau "Beauty Butterfly" Fairy Brooch/Pendant featuring unpolished (matte) upper torso and hand polished dress, hair and wings can be worn as a brooch And comes with a 30" Rhodium Plated Sterling Silver Chain! The design dates from the Art Nouveau period and it was likely manufactured 1880-1935 or as a 1984 limited reproduction. There is a 925 mark on the back of the brooch.
The brooch design and manufacture is most likely Van Kempen & Begeer. In 1825 the Van Kempen family began a silversmith house, they merged with the Begeer house in 1855. This company became famous with European royalty for their pieces from the mid-1800s, through Art Nouveau and Art Deco design periods.
Featured designs by Van Kempen & Begeer were recast from the original molds in 1984 by GL Nederland. Because of the design finish, we believe this brooch falls either of these two categories.
